Kirstin Taylor "Kirstie" Maldonado-Hausdorff, (born May 16, 1992), is an American singer-songwriter known for being one of the lead singers in the a cappella group, Pentatonix.
Bio[]
Maldonado was born in Fort Worth, Texas. Her mother, Angelica Maldonado, is Spanish-Italian, while her father, Michael Cisneros, is Mexican. She was raised by her mother in Arlington, Texas. She was only five years old when she first expressed her wish to become a singer. At eight years old, Maldonado sang at her mother's wedding reception, ultimately convincing her mother to enroll her in voice lessons. She also got into theater and starred in several local productions. It was through the local theater community that Maldonado met Mitch Grassi, a future fellow Pentatonix member.
At Martin High School, she met Scott Hoying with whom she and Grassi would later form Pentatonix. The three friends created an a cappella trio and started getting attention around their school for their covers of popular songs. Maldonado has dated both Grassi and Hoying in middle and high school, respectively. She, along with Hoying, graduated from Martin High School in 2010; that fall, she went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, where she studied musical theater on a full-ride scholarship as a National Hispanic Scholar. During her time in college, she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma. She left before completing her degree to form Pentatonix.
She is a National Hispanic Scholar and was a sophomore Music Theater major at The University of Oklahoma before joining Pentatonix. She developed her vocal and performance skills during her eight years as a touring member at Theatre Arlington where she’d learned to sing eight-part harmonies. She began her classical training during high school and was a member of the Texas All State Choir for three years. As a four-year show choir member and dance captain, Kirstin held numerous roles in local stage productions, performing at shows around the Metroplex, including Casa Manana and Bass Hall." Personal life[]
Maldonado met singer and entrepreneur Jeremy Lewis in August 2013 through The Sing-Off, and the two started dating in October of the same year. They got engaged on May 29, 2016, in Paris, France. In 2017, the couple postponed their wedding to work on certain unstated "issues", eventually calling it off in October.
In 2018, Maldonado began dating freelance filmmaker and photographer, Ben Hausdorff. On March 18, 2022, they announced that they were expecting their first child, a girl. Their daughter, Elliana Violet, was born on June 28, 2022. In March 2023, Maldonado revealed that she and Hausdorff got engaged in Japan. They were married in D'Vine Grace Vineyard in McKinney, Texas on April 21, 2024. On November 13, 2024, days away from their Christmas tour, "Hallelujah! It's A Christmas Tour", Maldonado announced that she and Hausdorff were expecting their second child, later confirmed to a boy, via Instagram. Their son, Theo Fortunato, was born on March 2, 2025.
An avid dog lover, Maldonado had three dogs of her own, two huskies named Olaf and Pascal, named after Disney characters - Olaf from Frozen and Pascal from Tangled, and a Pomeranian named Floof. Sadly, Pascal passed away in May 2023, from an aggressive form of cancer.
